Born on July 13, 1969 at Tsinvali of Georgia. His mother was greek, Maria Lambrianidi. He is 1.78m tall and he belongs to Milon Club. He returned to his roots in October, 1994. Gold medalist in 1992 in Barcelona, in 1996 in Atlanta and in 2000 in Sydney, representing Greece. World champion in 1995 and 1998 and 1999. Top weightlifter in the 1994 World Cup. In 1996 and 1999, he was elected best athlete of the year by the Greek sports journalists. He is a graduate of the National Polytechnics Institute and Lieutenant in the Greek Airforce. |
