Born on October 13, 1971 at Himarra. He is 1.74m tall and competes in the 72kg category. He belongs to SC Milon of Nea Smyrni. He returned to his roots in February, 1991. Gold medalist at the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona, in 1996 in Atlanta and in 2000 in Sydney. World champion in 1993, 1995 and 1998. Top athlete at the 1995 World Championships in Guangzhou. Greek athlete of the year in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996. He is a graduate of the Department of Geoponics and a Major in the Greek army. He is married and has three children, two daughters, Eleni and Maria and one son, Victor. His brother, Odysseas, has also been a weightlifter in the categories of 91kg and 99kg.
