He was born on October 28, 1971, he is 1.64m tall and belongs to the Panathinaikos Club. He came to Greece from Albania in 1991 and did not take part in weightlifting for a long period of time due to personal problems. He joined the national team in 1995. He has advanced knowledge in training and he is an Officer in the Greek Air force. He is married to Blerta and they had a daughter, Anastasia in the winter of 1995. Among his many achievements, his most distinguished are two silver medals, one in Atlanta in 1996 and the other in Sidney in 2000. He has also won 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal in World Championships and 9 gold and 5 silver medals in European ones.
