European Weightlifting Championships 2003

Albina Khomitch (RUS): “I am very happy for my success in this beautiful setting. I never expected Agata Wrobel to forfeit her last attempt in the clean & jerk. I respect Wrobel very much and I always take opposition from her seriously.”

Agata Wrobel (POL): “The 162.5 kg. were more than I could manage, as I have just returned to training during two weeks ago, following an injury. I am satisfied with the silver medal, although one always wants to have done better. My goal for the Olympic Games is to lift 300 kg. and to win the gold medal.”

Deriya Acikgoz (TUR): “I am satisfied with the third place that I achieved, although I believe I could have gotten between Khomitch and Wrobel. The match was very strong and close and I believe the result is fair. My next goal is the World Championships, where I want a place on the podium.”
