    European Weightlifting Championships 2003

    THE 2003 EUROPEAN WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN NUMBERS

    • 761 Accreditation Cards were issued for the needs of the competition.

    • 152 journalists were accredited to cover the event.

    • 30 photographers captured the athletes’ efforts.

    • 206 athletes (128 men and 78 women) took part.

    • 9 European Senior Women’s European Records have been set, as well as three Junior Women’ European Records and one Junior Women’s World Record.

    • A total of 99,277 kg. have been lifted throughout the competition (71,240 kg. in the men’s categories and 28,037 kg. in the women’s categories.

    • 31 countries were represented in the men’s events and 21 in the women’s events.

    • 15,000 spectators watched the events (10,000 in the evening sessions and 5,000 in the morning sessions).

    • 52,000 sheets of A4 paper were used for the needs of the Championships.

    • 8,250 metres of cables were laid through the hall and other facilities.

    • 80 police officers and three fire fighters were on standby daily at the hall for the tournament’s security.

    • 350 kg. of meat, 150 kg. of fish, 350 kg. of vegetables and fruit, and 118 kg. of pasta were consumed by the athletes and trainers during their stay in Loutraki.

    • 6 TV networks broadcast the tournament.

    • 10 TV cameras were used by the host TV broadcaster, Hellenic Radio & Television (ERT) for the coverage of the tournament.

    • 56 Press Releases were posted on the official website of the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation (www.weightlifting.gr).
