European Weightlifting Championships 2003

Natalia Zobolotnaia (RUS): “The competition is excellent and the organisation perfect. I was sure of my own result, but I hadn’t been so sure of my own medals, so I’m glad that I came here. I never expected to be third in the snatch and third in the clean & jerk and then to win a gold medal in the total. My goal now is to get onto the podium in the World Championships.”

Rumyana Petkova (BUL): “I had a knee problem that troubled me during this competition and I was in pain. I’m new to t his category, but I like it here and I plan to stay in the 75 kg. I now look forward to the World Championships and the Olympic Games.”

Christina Ioannidou (GRE): “I expected to be amongst the top six in this competition and was not so sure of a medal. I still make many technical errors in the snatch, which I have to correct. I dedicate this medal to all the people who helped me and supported me on my way to this success.”
